Default Runes/Insigna's Etc. Help

Hi,

I'll first introduce myself.

I'm Sam, from England, I'm 17 studying for my A levels.

I'm a good player in PvE, never tried PvP, but I'm having trouble with the runes and what have you. Before there were just runes but now we seem to have hundreds of different types of runes and runes of clarity and purity and thousands of insignas.

So what can I have attached to a single peice of armour? Persumably one rune but can I have additional insignas as well? And can I have the runes of clarity etc. on top of that?

Also, I just saved up enough money for a superior vigour rune and immediately attached it to a peice of armour. Unfortunately they only seemed to give me a 10 health bonus. I already had a minor vigour rune on the robes (giving me a 25 + 30 health bonus)...That gave me 535 health. I then put a major vigour rune onto the vambraces, which should have given me 576 health, instead it gave me 546 health. I then put the superior vigour onto the leggings, which should have given me 626 health, but only gave me 555 health.

Why is this? Have I just wasted a lot of gold? Why aren't I getting the full health bonuses?

Thanks,

Sam.

Welcome Sam, good to have you here...

For all the best info, check here:

for rune info http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Rune
for insignia info http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Insignia

and remember, they recently changed the armours, for a full list of the changes in that update, check here May 24th Update notes

hope that helps and if you need a hand, just shout

Oh, and a quick note on Vigor runes, as it says on the rune itself, they don't stack and as I recall (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) you only get the benefit of the best one and the other is canceled out

Hello Sam, from England, who's 17 and studying A levels. Now if you can give me your phone no and bank details, that would be nice. only j/k

First of all, vigour runes DO NOT STACK with each other, so if you have +30 on the head and then you stick a +50 on the body, you WILL NOT get +80, but +50 instead. There is a grey writing that said "non-stacking" in the runes detail. Always been like this since day one. Some runes do stack but most won't.

As for your armor, you can have 1 insignia and 1 rune on it. Do make sure that your armor have a free slot for it. As for what to put on, that's depend on your build.

Edit: yeah samurai, there's a "non-stacking" warning on the rune discription.

Yeah I saw the non-stacking but I just assumed that that was to do with runes of the same type, ie, you couldn't have two major vigour runes. But you can have two superior runes of other types can't you? Like with a 55hp monk you have smiting/protection/healing superior runes and that works...So is it just with vigour runes?

Hmm...Thats annoying, guessing now I have to salvage the armour to get the runes back and buy new armour...Which will be costly.

Thanks for the replies.

No, if you like the armour, just apply new runes and insignias over the top, less costly... better to lose a minor vigour, than salvage it off and possibly lose the piece of possibly expensive armour

Your smiting/protection/healing example is correct, however if you put 2 healing runes on, you wouldn't get the benefit of both (just any negatives). If a rune says non-stacking, that means you can't double up on that class of rune (ie healing prayers) and get the benefit of more than one. Otherwise, people would simply wear 3 minor vigors and have a better hp bonus than a single superior, without the negative aspect (other than having only 2 more slots for runes )
